Cynthia Antigua
is a Dominican singer and songwriter.
BORN ON JUNE 26 -
From an early age she demonstrated an interest in the arts,
which led her to study drama, music and classical ballet.
Her family’s frequent trips to the United States and abroad, exposed Cynthia to various cultures that influenced her eclectic musical style.
Drawn to the city of lights, Cynthia packed her bags and settled in New York City. There she began taking acting classes and formed her very own rock band. She honed in on techniques to create her own artistry and developed her stage presence . In that time she began working on her writing style as well as composing her own songs to share on stage, as well as covers . With sold out shows in Manhattan, The Bronx and New Jersey, Cynthia and her band were acclaimed by the strong Latino communities in these cities.
In time, Cynthia decided it was the right moment to pursue her dream of being a solo artist. Shortly thereafter, opportunity and preparation led her to be featured in hit songs that quickly rose to the top of the charts in radio stations all over the world. Her hit singles and collaborations include, Don Omar (Isla Bonita), Akon (I Wanna Love You remix), Los illegales (Tu Calor) , Don Miguelo, Maffio, The Barrio Boyz, amongst many others.
Her debut at The American Airlines Arena in Miami, brought her the opportunity to be the opening act for renowned artist, Laura Pausini on her world tour in Latin America.
Cynthia’s drive didn’t stop there. She decided to take some time off from the music scene and focus on developing her music and writing style while at the same time immersing herself in the Presidential campaign of Danilo Medina (current President in office of the Dominican Republic) .
As a singer ,philanthropist and political activist Cynthia has been able to touch the souls of millions . Often offering a helping hand with her talent, resources ,time and dedication for private and public charitable events and non for profit organizations, Cynthia’s commitment with society as a whole is distinctly characterized by its humanitarian nature .
After the elections, Cynthia decided it was time to return to the musical scene. With a keen sense of herself and clear direction on her musical style, Cynthia made a strong comeback with the release of her first single “Comenzar De Cero”, a (latin pop-ballad), released on March of 2015.
The song was an immediate success and was embraced instantaneously. It charted in the Top 5 of the iTunes Latin Global Charts in the first 24 hours and reached #1 in just one week on iTunes.
This new musical production singled an important step for Cynthia in her music career because it not only defined her unique style as an artist, but also marked a clear distinction and turning point in her career.
